According to recent reports, Google is working on its End-to-End Encryption for its Message App. A prominent blogging site 9to5Google has revealed few code lines that would refer to End-to-End Encryption. The details of the existing codes shown by 9to5Google through an internal and unreleased app build.
There is a possibility that the new End-to-End Encryption would be released shortly. Although Google has not spoken anything about this new addition, this new feature seems to add extra privacy. Messaging platforms of other companies such as the iMessage, Whatsapp, Messenger, and Facebook already are implementing the End-to-End Encryption.
End-to-End Encryption will help users to take the help of Rich Communication Services. It will add extra security for the users to activate the chat, RCS standard, and real-time typing indicator along with reliable group chats and large file transfers. Chatting through the messaging app will be encrypted while sending all decrypted at the end of the recipient. For the Google messages End-to-End Encryption to work, both the users need to have the application.
But, it looks like Google wants to integrate RCS standards with other apps as well. This will highly help when the user is texting only on the messaging app, or the connection is very poor. In such cases, the message will be switched between MMS and SMS. Users will be notified whether the SMS or MMS is not encrypted before sending the message.
The release date or any official information about the encryption feature is not yet confirmed. But one can expect this new Google’s feature to roll-out soon. This has been the feature about which the android users have been waiting for years. This is a much-needed privacy tweak. Google should have done years before. This would make messaging smarter and safer, and it also avoids unnecessary security issues with spam messaging.
